The Edible Snowman

This afternoon Bethany got all giddy and wanted to make a snowman.  So we grabbed some stuff from the kitchen for the facial features and set of down the river to find a suitable spot to build him.  The river banks were beautiful in the foot-deep snow.

About 30 minutes walking/snowball-fighting down the river we saw the perfect spot.  A little spit of land near St. Catherines Lock where fishermen usually do their thing (y'know - fishing).  We set to "work" and soon had the funniest looking snowman I've ever seen.  Here's the little fella posing with Bethany - she's the one who doesn't have a carrot for a nose.

For those who are wondering (and there must be almost half a dozen of you) those are over-a-year-old Cadbury's Creme Eggs for his eyes, a carrot for his nose and some Pumpkin Candy Corn (left over from Halloween) for his mouth.  And some twig thing for his hair.

Hence the name "The Edible Snowman".

Here he is from the opposite bank, where everyone will see him as they walk past.

Snow Way!

Just like every other blogger this morning I have to post news and photos of The Great Blizzard of '09.

Last night we were eating delicious homemade cookies and watching a movie (Laputa - Hayao Miyazaki) not realising what was happening outside.  After the movie Bethany discovered that it had been - still was - snowing pretty hard.

Snow is always exciting, so we got our cameras out.  There were people from our building getting wrapped up and heading to the deserted car park across the road at 10pm for snowball fights.

A photo from last night.
Back garden.
5-sec exposure.

And another from this morning.
Back garden again - about a foot of snow?

There's no work today for Bethany and me.  The trains running into London are all cancelled.  Even if we did the 15hr walk to London, then the tubes and buses aren't even running.

Think I'll make a pot of tea and have some more of those delicious homemade cookies.

Guildford Ninja Samurai Clan

Half ninja. Half samurai. All awesome.

You too can be stealthy AND honorable when you purchase your very own Ninja Samurai Swords (with dragon art) from the customer services board at Sainsbury's supermarket, Guildford. Membership to the Guildford Ninja Samurai Clan included.

He (it's gotta be a guy, right?) also got his own telephone number wrong - UK mobile phones have 11 digits. Plus he can't spell samurai and randomly writes in a mixture of upper and lower-case.

Is it scary someone that stupid owns swords?

More importantly, do the Guildford Ninja Samurai Clan wear black Ugg Boots?
